The news of the reboot was revealed on a commercial break during the final episode of love island Tonight (August 1) on ITV2.
Big brother – which first aired on Channel 4 in 2000 before moving to Channel 5 in 2011 – is now broadcast on ITV2 and ITV’s new streaming service, ITVX. The final season of the cult series aired in 2018.
The show sees a large number of strangers living together under one roof and doing household chores. Participants will be voted on until viewers at home vote for the winner.
“This fresh, contemporary series of Big brother It will include all the familiar focal points that interacted and entertained viewers when they debuted, but with an entirely new look and some added transformation that will appeal to today’s audience.”
He continued, “We are pleased to introduce this popular series to ITV2 and ITVX as it should particularly appeal to our younger viewers.”
