Putrajaya – The authorities have been asked to investigate cases related to the employment of foreign workers from Bangladesh that were found to have elements of misconduct and abuse of power.
President of the Malaysian Association of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (IKHLAS), Mohamed. Rizwan Abdullah said an investigation was needed in light of the contradictory statements made by the government and Bangladesh regarding the selection of 25 agencies to hire foreign workers.
“Therefore, we are asking the police, the National Security Council (MKN) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to thoroughly investigate this matter,” he said in a statement yesterday.
This came in response to the statement of the Minister of Entrepreneur Welfare and External Employment in Bangladesh, Imran Ahmed, who denied the quota of 25 agencies.
In fact, the minister also stressed that Bangladesh has never approved nor restricted the quota of agencies to hire these workers.
Commenting on this, he said there is no need to bring in up to 500,000 additional Bangladeshis as there are already around three million citizens in the country. – Cosmo! Online
