A helicopter crashed on a road in rural West Virginia yesterday, killing six passengers.
According to Utusan Malaysia, the authorities said the accident site has been closed to allow investigation and clean-up work.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
Emergency team spokesman Ray Bryant said the helicopter carrying the tourists caught fire when rescue teams arrived at the scene.
Bobby Childs, a local, said she heard a loud bang and ran to see what was happening.
“The collision caused the helicopter to explode and emit large fireballs,” he added.
Meanwhile, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice via Twitter offered his condolences to the families of the victims who were killed in the accident.
The Bell UH-1B helicopter was built in the 1950’s and was used frequently by the US Army during the Vietnam War.
