A new honor for the Philippines was brought by the 200-man team of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that participated and won medals in the World Police & Fire Games 2022 in the Netherlands.
In Bombo Radyo’s interview with Police Executive Master Sergeant Junel Perania, the only police officer from Western Visayas sent to such Olympic-style competition in Rotterdam, he said that the country’s delegation is scheduled to return home today and tomorrow.
Perania is a native of Railway, Lapuz Norte, Iloilo City, and assigned to the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division at the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6.
It defended its title as the reigning champion in Karate in the said sports event which was participated by police, fire, customs and corrections personnel from 70 countries.
Perania’s performance is impressive because he also represented the country in the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and World Games and he is also the coach of the Philippine Team in the Asian Karate Federation.
There are 63 sporting events in the competition including crossfit athletics, water polo, kite surfing, and ultimate fire fighting.
