Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Fold 2 in the second half of this year. Some reports say that the South Korean company will announce it along with the Galaxy Note 20 series in Q3 this year.
Some time ago, important information circulated about the specifications of the Galaxy Fold 2, it was Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants who shared the leaked information. Young reveals that Galaxy Fold 2 is codenamed Project ‘Champ’a report by the Developer team at XDA also says the device is named Project ‘Winner 2’ internally.
Young further revealed that the flexible display of the Galxy Fold 2 will use a 7.59-inch AMOLED panel. The screen has a resolution of 2213 x 1689 pixels with a density of 372 ppi, and has a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Samsung is said to want to take advantage of the camera technology on the display panel of the Galaxy Fold 2. However, due to issues related to delivery time, the company decided to add a punch hole at the top. Like the Galaxy Z Flip clamshell device, the Fold 2 is said to come with an Ultra Thin Glass coating on the flexible screen.
Meanwhile, on the outside, the Galaxy Fold 2 will carry a 6.23” inch Dynamic AMOLED LTPS type screen. The screen has a resolution of 819 x 2267 pixels with a 60Hz refresh rate, and there is a camera hole at the top.
According to several reports on the XDA site, the Galaxy Fold 2 will come in two variants of the 4G and 5G networks. Both will most likely be powered by the Snapdragon 865 or Snapdragon 865+ SoC. Fold 2 is also rumored to be carrying an S Pen stylus, the rumor is circulating because of the use of an Ultra Thin Glass layer embedded in the screen.
The Galaxy Fold 2 will be offered with two storage options, namely 256 GB and 512 GB. In addition, it is mentioned that the Galaxy Fold 2 will also be equipped with a battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh, and is available in two color options: Martian Green and Astro Blue.
