KUALA LUMPUR: Negeri Sembilan striker Sean Eugene Selvaraj admitted that the goal he scored against Selangor yesterday was the most beautiful he had ever scored in his career as a professional footballer.

The goal late in the match was a 3-2 victory for Negeri Sembilan over Selangor, thus seeing the Red Giants’ unbeaten record at home this season melt away.

Sean, who is also a former Selangor player, explained that he couldn’t believe how he was able to release a very interesting shot from outside the penalty box to beat the goalkeeper, Samuel Somerville.

“I don’t even know what actually happened and until now I still can’t believe I could score such a goal.

“In fact, I think it’s the most beautiful goal I’ve ever scored in football and there’s no way I’ll forget it even in training, I’ve done that kind of scoring technique several times.

“Selangor is still in my heart. Even though I had to leave this club, scoring a goal here in such a lively atmosphere is very exciting.

“Thank you also to the coach who gave me the opportunity and included me as a substitute striker because this is indeed a position I am very comfortable with,” he said.

Selangor took the lead in the first half with 2-0 thanks to Herlison Caion’s goal and Yazan Al-Arab’s controversial goal in the eighth and 30th minute.

Gustavo Almeida, however, managed to erase the advantage possessed by the Red Giants when he scored two goals in the 66th and 80th minutes before Sean completed the dramatic rise of Negeri Sembilan by scoring the winning goal with two minutes left in the game.
