One of the best parts of listening so far Algeria opus is to take you on a journey that transcends any genre and expectations you might have based on your mostly punk past. Pure and simple, this partnership with metal and wood-inspired New York billy Backxwash ignites the airwaves and then dances defiantly to the ashes.

Founded in 2012, Algiers was formed by vocalist Franklin James Fisher, bassist Ryan Mahan, guitarist Lee Tesche and drummer Matt Tong. The group performed at Riot Fest in Chicago and will embark on a major European tour starting in February.

Cat Power | “He War”

Cat Power, or Charlyn Marie “Chan” Marshall, grew up in Atlanta, her early years mired in the destructive darkness that often seeped into the city’s creative psyche during the 1980s and 1990s. Security in 2003, the year the song was released: “Everyone I love in Atlanta uses heroin and it’s so bad and disgusting, so I went to New York.”
