EPF disbursed RM167.63b to external fund managers last year

KUALA LUMPUR – The Employee Provision Fund (EPF) has disbursed RM167.63 billion to external fund managers as of 31 December 2021.

The amount increased by 8.0 percent from RM155.18 billion at the end of 2020.

These terms invested in equity and fixed income instruments represent 16.66 percent of the total investment assets of the EPF.

EPF Chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir said EPF’s external fund manager performed well in 2021 and delivered commendable results in line with EPF’s goals and expectations for this year.

“These fund managers have played an important role in improving EPF’s asset performance and as the size of the EPF fund grows, they will continue this diversification strategy and enhance their skills that complement EPF’s own internal fund management capabilities,” it said in a statement. here.

For the financial year ending 2021, the EPF has announced a dividend rate of 6.10 percent with payments of RM50.45 billion for conventional savings, and 5.65 percent with payments of RM6.27 billion for sharia.

Cumulatively, the total payments for 2021 are RM56.72 billion.

In March 2022, EPF launched the EPF Sustainable Investment Policy, Priority Issues Policy and Priority Sector Policy to guide EPF in making more informed and holistic investment decisions by integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into its investment management process.

“In line with EPF’s position as a pension fund with long-term goals and aspirations, it is important for EPF to incorporate ESG factors into performance evaluations and business practices of investment companies and external fund managers.

“The EPF Sustainable Investment Framework will serve as the basis for engaging in discussions, evaluation and management of ESG risks, as well as taking advantage of value-added opportunities,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
