A compilation of Mesut Ozil‘s “1000 IQ assists” has done the rounds and shown how intelligent the German players were in his day.
Ozil is now nearing the end of his career and appears to have played his last game for Turkish side Fenerbahce, who see no future for him.
Sad to see, but with all the negativity surrounding Ozil right now, someone on YouTube is kind enough to remind fans how talented the 33-year-old footballer is.
“1000 IQ assists” may seem a confusing title at first, but watch the video and it’s easy to see why the phrase was coined.
The video is 42 seconds of Ozil’s magic for Real Madrid, Germany, Arsenal and Fenerbahce, as he finds his team-mates with slick balls, stunning feedback and great kicks.
One for Emmanuel Adebayor sums up everything about Ozil. He orchestrated the move with a one-two and then when he was at the back, selflessly rolled the ball for the Togo striker to tap into the empty net.
There’s still a feeling that Ozil is still hugely underappreciated in the game, but this clip represents only a small sample of his innate vision and creativity.
After 37 appearances and nine goals, he now finds himself in the same predicament.
New manager Jorge Jesus did not see Ozil in his plans and told him he did not meet the requirements because he “had time”.
