The Changing Ceremony for DOLE’s new secretary, held today

OFFICIALLY a changeover ceremony was held today for the new secretary of the Department of Manpower and Employment (DOLE) between outgoing DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III and Secretary Bienvenido E.Laguesma.

Secretary of Labor and Employment Bienvenido E.Laguesma received from the Secretary of DOLE the outgoing Silvestre H. Bello III of the DOLE Flag and the Philippines Labor and Employment Plan (LEP) 2022-2028 today.

A simple changeover ceremony was held at the Center for Workforce Governance and Learning, Blas F. Ople Hall in Intramuros, Manila.

In Secretary Laguesma’s speech, her dream is for the department to be action-driven that is approachable and accountable.

For the outgoing Secretary Bello III, there was no need to teach the new secretary what to do in the department, especially since he was also a former secretary.

Laguesma has also been a former secretary of DOLE under former President Joseph Estrada and a former commissioner of the Social Security System (SSS) under President Benigno Aquino III.

Bello also added that one of Duterte’s proud legacies of the department is industrial peace.

Because the various programs are to maintain good relations between workers and employers.

Meanwhile, for Laguesma, her dream is to continue the DOLE program under the Duterte administration, especially regarding COVID-19.

On the first day, according to Laguesma, these meetings were held by regional directors and next week the new secretary felt like contacting the employers’ group to find out and hear the answers they needed on labor issues.
