In order to keep her sister alive and well, Sally refuses to accept this final order for her. However, he runs into a moral dilemma when he discovers that the package is actually a young girl named Leila.

When sent to Paul, Leila stops the process by shooting him dead. This puts Sally in a very bad situation because now, the traffickers will chase them both, as well as threaten Dennis’ life in prison. When Paul’s body is found, FBI agent Finley Sterling, consulted by retired agent Gerick, also begins searching for Sally and Leila. With the cops and criminals on their tail, Sally tries to keep Leila out of sight, but it proves to be a difficult task as Leila attempts to experience the world she has just allowed.

When Sally and Leila met, they had very different perceptions of each other. To Sally, Leila, even though just a little girl, was a big deal. He knew his brother had landed him in something far more dangerous than he was worth, especially after Leila had killed the person Sally was supposed to give him. With murder charges on their heads, Sally didn’t know what to do with Leila except to hand her over to the intended person, as expected. To Leila, Sally was just another person who sent her to a very bad life. All he thought about was survival and the possibility of escaping. He didn’t want to go back to living in the cage, which is why he shot Paul.

With so many people chasing them, Sally and Leila are forced to spend a few days in each other’s company, and that changes the dynamic between them. After Paul’s death, as things calmed down a bit, Sally saw that Leila was just a normal kid, and it felt wrong to send her back to the hell she came from. This is especially painful for Sally as she too had a troubled childhood, suffering abuse at the hands of her father. Seeing another child going through the same thing and him actually helping her, makes Sally question the path she should take for Leila.

Sally trusts Dennis to help her, but in the end, it turns out she has been doing it all the time. When her own brother betrays her, the rest of Sally’s family shows up to support her. In a van full of girls, Dennis and his gang almost escape with Leila. This is until Sally’s trucker friend shows up and blocks all escape routes. Completely disappointed in her sister for putting the children into such an unspeakable condition, Sally decides not to save her anymore. Instead, he called Gerick.

Gerick knew Sally was the one hiding Leila, but he also knew that she wasn’t the one who put the child’s life in danger. In fact, if he could think of someone to take care of Leila, it would be Sally. When he arrives on the scene and finds another group of girls, he decides to let Sally off the hook with Leila. He had to take responsibility for that to his superiors, but he was prepared to fall rather than let Leila go back into the system and be vulnerable to land in such trouble again. Besides, Sally was ready to take care of Leila, so much so that she sold her trailer to pay off the traffickers. So, leaving the other girls to be taken care of by Gerick and Sterling, Sally and Leila leave before the local police show up.

What Happened to Dennis?

The main catalyst of the events on ‘Paradise Highway’ was Dennis. He is in prison and in order to save him from being beaten or killed there, Sally makes several deliveries on his behalf. He had done that during his time in prison not only because he was his older brother, but also because he believed that it was his turn to take care of him. As children, they were abused by their father, as evidenced by the cigarette burns on their hands and the trauma Sally still carries, refusing to return to the home where they grew up. To save Sally, Dennis must bear a heavy burden. their father’s cruelty. He saved her when she was in trouble, so now, Sally felt obliged to save her sister when she was in trouble.

Her dedication also worked on the fact that she believed her brother really wanted to change. Once he gets out of prison, he will abandon his criminal ways. No matter what he had done before, she expected him to do the right thing, especially when it came to a child. This was why he was shocked for life when it turned out that his brother was not only making a scene so the traffickers wouldn’t let Leila off, but he was also actively helping them in the trade of other children. He had tricked Sally into believing that he was a good man and that he would help her save Leila.

After everything she had done for him, Sally decided that whatever she owed him was done too. He didn’t want to destroy his own life and the lives of a bunch of other kids just because he was his older brother. So, he happily handed it over, knowing that he would be spending time in prison. However, this time, he would not accept the idea of visiting her or helping her, no matter what she said. He made his bed, and now he had to lie there.
