WEEK Today host Willie Geist has corrected himself after a viewer told him he made a mispronunciation on air.
Willie, 47, has apologized after a fan called out to him for articulating Texas’ Bexar County with two syllables instead of one on Twitter.
After the segment containing the mispronunciation, Twitter user Eddie Aldrete write to TV star: “Bexar County, Texas – FYI, ‘X’ is silent. It is pronounced like a BEAR animal.
However, despite making a blunder, it didn’t take long for Willie to correct the error.
Just seven minutes later, host answer to the viewer: “Yeah, I know. I said it right all morning and I missed one. Apology.”
Another Twitter user was quick to show Willie understanding, proverb“Everything was fine. I lived in Texas for 11 years and didn’t know the correct pronunciation until I married a Saint Anthony who enlightened me on that and many other things.”
The correction comes after viewers criticized the host for her lifestyle covering Gigi Hadid’s new clothing line on 9/11.
The talk show leads to her twitter page to share a photo of the two chatting on the streets of New York with the caption, “Also on #SundayTODAY: Model, designer and style icon @GiGiHadid joins @WillieGeist for this week’s #SundaySitdown.”
Some fans were surprised not to take terror attack warnings more seriously.
One Twitter user wrote: “What made the SUNDAY TODAY 9/11/22 show post a piece about Gigi Hadid????!!!!”

“I don’t think anything says ‘memory’ of one of the most important events in American history like Ms. Hadid’s view of cashmere shorts,” they added.
“Good call, whoever decides this is a great idea,” they concluded.
“This is so embarrassing! Whoever decides to post the segment should be fired, or Willie himself for agreeing to post it,” a second agreed.
Willie has been a Sunday Today presenter since 2016.
He is also the host of the Today Show Sunday Sitdown podcast.
